'Town of Shoes'

Northampton Shoe Collection at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

A project close to my heart, as a child I would enjoy visiting the Northampton shoe collection in the original museum building. Many of these designs still stand out to me now.

This is the second largest shoe collection in the world and deserves to be displayed in Northampton, a town with a history of shoemaking and cobblers.

With help from the gallery I selected twelve of the most iconic and popular shoes to paint in my watercolour style. This includes Queen Victoria's Wedding Shoes, an elephant shoe, the Kinky Boots from the 2006 film, Elton John's Tommy boots, The Red Shoes from the 1948 film, a pair of Vivienne Westwood ghillie shoes and Union Jack platform boots from a time when The Spice Girls were taking over the world!

The gallery loved my designs and so we decided to use them on a whole range of merchandise for sale in their gift shop!

As well as greetings cards and prints, my designs are now available on postcards, magnets, mugs, tea towels and tote bags! The perfect memento from a visit to the beautiful collection!
